Hitachi High Tech has announced two new Schottky-sourced VP-SEM's. The SU3800SE and SU3900SE are Schottky versions of their Tungsten-sourced SU3800 and SU3900. Details were a little light in the initial press release, but these instruments will likely replace the older SU5000 FE-SEM and will possibly also have Variable Pressure capability.
The SU3800SE has a standard draw-out style stage which can handle samples up to 200mm in diameter.
The only difference with the SU3900SE is that it has an extremely large chamber with 20 accessory ports. It's stage is also draw-out type, but can handle samples up to 300mm in diameter, 130mm tall, and 5kg in weight simultaneously.
Air lock loading is an available option.
Hitachi claims these systems were designed to reduce electrical consumption by up to 50% when compared to other current FE-SEM models.
Other specifications were not listed in the initial press release.
