Massachusetts based Thermo Fisher Scientific (TFS) has released a new Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope (STEM) called the Iliad. TFS Panther STEM, fully integrated TFS EELS and TFS beam blanker are a few of the features available with the new system. 4D STEM and Lorentz microscopy are other possible uses for the system.
The Ilias uses a monochromated schottky source, but also has a cold sourse option. Voltage is adjustable from 30kV to 300kV, and TFS claims it is capable of 50pm resolution at 300kV, or 125pm at 30kV.
